Dr Bea Kia Chuang is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specialises in joint surgery and sports injury. He graduated from University Science Malaysia in 2001. He subsequently completed his orthopaedic specialist training with a Master of Medicine (Orthopaedics). Since then, he served as orthopaedic surgeon in Penang General Hospital.

                                                

In additional to various traumatic bone fracture fixation and orthopaedic reconstruction operations, Dr Bea’s sub-specialty interest is in knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery, including knee ligament/s reconstruction, meniscus repair and shoulder reconstructive operations. He is also well versed in performing joint replacement/arthroplasty surgery for arthritic joints involving hip, knee and shoulder.

 

Dr Bea completed his clinical fellowship training in Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, National University Hospitalof Singapore in 2010. Then he was trained in world renowned winter sports trauma centre in Davos, Switzerland under AO international fellowship programme. In addition to that, Dr Bea also underwent an advanced training specialised in shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty surgery under mentorship of Professor Jon JP Warner at The Harvard Shoulder Service, Massachusetts General Hospital. 

 

Dr Bea was appointed as sports injury consultant for the Penang State Sports Council, to treat state athletes with all sorts of sports-related injury. He also served as contingent sports physician for the SUKMA (Sukan Malaysia) Games 2013 in KL.

 

Dr Bea actively involves in international professional bodies, he is a member of Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), International AO Trauma Association and International Congress of Joint Reconstruction (ICJR).

 

Dr Bea was conferred the state medal, PKT (Distinguished Conduct Medal) by Penang Governorfor his contributions in the orthopaedic sports medicine.
